The following guide will teach you how to migrate your game server and data from Nodecraft to Citadel Servers.
Step 1: Create a Backup Through Nodecraft
Before migrating your server, create a backup using Nodecraft's backup functionality from the control panel.
This provides a restore point should you need to recover any data during or after the migration.
Step 2: Download Your Server Files
Access your Nodecraft File Manager or connect using FTP to download your server files.
We recommend downloading all important content, including:
• World saves
• Maps and custom worlds
• Player data
• Mods and mod configurations
• Plugins
• Configuration files
• Custom content and scripts
Save all downloaded files to your local computer before continuing.
Step 3: Upload Files to Citadel Servers
Connect to your Citadel Servers service using FTP or the Game Panel File Manager.
Upload the downloaded files to the appropriate directories on your Citadel Servers service.
For large worlds, modpacks, or servers with extensive custom content, FTP is the recommended transfer method.
You can follow our FTP setup guide here: FTP Guide
Step 4: Verify Server Configuration
Before starting your server, verify that:
• The correct game version is installed
• Mods and plugins were transferred successfully
• Configuration files are present and correct
• Startup parameters match your previous setup
• Administrative permissions are configured properly
Step 5: Start and Test Your Server
Start your Citadel Servers service and verify that all content was migrated successfully.
• Worlds load correctly
• Player data is intact
• Mods and plugins function properly
• Players can connect successfully
Alternative Method: Transfer a Backup Archive
If you exported a backup archive from Nodecraft, you may upload the archive directly through the Citadel Servers File Manager.
Once uploaded, extract the archive and move the files into the appropriate server directories.
Common Migration Issues
Missing World Data
Verify that all world save folders were transferred completely and uploaded to the correct location.
Mods or Plugins Not Loading
Ensure all required files and dependencies were uploaded successfully and are compatible with your current game version.
Server Startup Errors
Review your startup logs and verify that all configuration files and server data were transferred correctly.
