The main game released an update on November 26, 2025.
Causing incompatibility issues with the Hogwarps mod.
This guide will show you how to downgrade your Hogwarts Legacy Client Version.

1. Disable automatic updates for Hogwarts Legacy on Steam.
You can do this by right-clicking the game on Steam and clicking properties.
Then, in the updates tab, set the automatic updates to "Only update when launched".
2. Now that updates are disabled, we can start downloading the older compatible version.
Usually, Steam games have this feature in the beta tab in properties, but Hogwarts does not.
So we will have to download it manually in Steam through a console command.
To open up the Console on Steam, press the "Windows Key + R" to open Run program,
Then paste this: "steam://open/console". This will open the Steam console.
3. Once you have opened this Console for Steam, we can now start the download.
Paste this to download the July 2025 version, which is known to work with Hogwarp:

Paste this and then press Enter to start downloading.
This will download the entire game again as a different instance with its own folder.
Please ensure you have 71 GB of free storage. This may take a while, so be patient for the completion message.
4. Once the download is complete, we will need to move the contents of the newly downloaded folder
to the current game file location of your Hogwarts Legacy folder. The Install Folder location may vary per user.
Copy the contents from the newly downloaded folder to the original Hogwarts folder.
Windows will prompt if we want to "Overwrite" the current files with the new ones. Click yes for this.
Now wait for it to finish copying over. Once done, we have finished downgrading the game version.
5. The game will be in a vanilla state, so reinstall the Hogwarp mod to it.
Then you should be able to continue playing online with your friends.
