Default Map Pool Files
Citadel Servers provides pre-configured map pool files for different game modes.
You can select these by going to Startup Parameters → Map Pool and choosing one of the following files:
| Game Mode | Map Pool File |
|---|---|
| Default | mappool.txt |
| FFA | mappool_ffa.txt |
| Clan Arena | mappool_ca.txt |
| Capture the Flag | mappool_ctf.txt |
| Duel | mappool_duel.txt |
| Race | mappool_race.txt |
| Team Deathmatch | mappool_tdm.txt |
Understanding Map Pool Entries
The mappool.txt file controls what maps appear in the server rotation and voting.
Each line follows this format:
map|factory
map → The map name
factory → The gametype or ruleset used for that map
campgrounds|duel
bloodrun|duel
asylum|ctf
Using Custom Map Pool Files
If you want to create your own map pool:
Make a copy of an existing mappool.txt file.
Rename it (for example: mappool_custom.txt).
Edit it with your own maps and factories.
Go to Startup Parameters → Map Pool and select your custom file.
Locking Your Server to a Single Gametype
If you want your server to only run one gametype (for example: Duel):
Make sure your mappool.txt only contains maps using the same factory (e.g. duel).
Open your server.cfg file inside the baseq3 folder.
Add or edit this line:
set g_voteFlags "8"
This disables the ability for players to change the gametype using the map vote system.
Once configured, your Quake Live server will only rotate through your selected maps and gametype.
