The following guide will show you how to fix the issue of being asked to create a new character on your Palworld server.

When uploading a save file, there will be times where you encounter the issue where players are prompted to create a new character instead of loading their previous characters. This guide will show you exactly how to fix this issue and load your existing character to your new dedicated Palworld game server.
Follow the steps below to fix this issue:
1. Whoever is prompted to make a new character, have them create one and make sure the name of their
new character is the same as their old one and join the server. Once logged into the world, log out.
2. Login to the Game Panel (click this link for easy access) and navigate to your Palworld server.

Make sure the server is not running, by pressing the "Stop" button.
3. Next, you would want to download the save file inside the
/Pal/Saved/SaveGames/0
folder using FTP to your local computer. If you're unsure on how to do this, follow our guide via this link.
Make a backup of your saved file in case something goes wrong.
4. Download the tool below and open it. Click Assets on the latest release and then the .exe file to download it.

5. Open the tool and you may see a warning on your computer when opening it. Just click "Run Anyway".
6. A window will open asking for the location of the saved file. You need to click Browse and
open the Level.sav on the save file that you previously downloaded from your server.
7. Once the file has been selected, the tool will start loading and it may stop responding.
This is normal and may take up to 10 minutes.
8. After successfully loading, you can now migrate your old character save file to the new one.
Select the old character on the upper field and the newly created character (Lvl. 0) on the lower field.
9. Click Migrate to start migrating. The window may freeze or show that it's not responding.
Make sure not to close it and wait for it to complete.
10. Once completed, it will show you the window below.

12. On your Game Control Panel, start your server by clicking the "Start" button.

My server does not appear in the Official Servers list?
This is official game servers by the developer, not community servers

Our servers should be searchable by default. The Palworld Server search bar is Case Sensitive.
Check what you type in the search bar and make sure the name and the letter case both match the server.
I clicked connect with my server IP and port but it doesn't connect?
This could be several things, firstly make sure you have the correct IP and port,
maybe there is an extra character or space in there.
Secondly, make sure your server is shown as running, it won't appear if stopped.
Thirdly, make sure it's up to date, you can only join the server if you have the same version.
Go to the game panel and run either "Steam Update" or "Server Updater"
I clicked connect and it won't let me join because of the password I added to my server?
This is a known issue that the developer has stated, there is no way around this at this time,
they have stated they will be adding a prompt that asks you for password in a future patch.
