Owning a Project Zomboid server oftentimes requires privacy and security configuration to make sure the game is enjoyable for all its players. One of the ways you can do this is by adding a server password. However, for unfamiliar players, setting a server password for Project Zomboid can be a bit confusing. This step-by-step guide will teach you how to add a server password to your Project Zomboid server with Citadel Servers.

 

There are two ways to add a password to your Project Zomboid server.

  • Via Configuration Files
  • Via File Manager

 

FIRST METHOD: Via Configuration Files (We highly suggest that you use this method)

1. First and foremost, login to the Game Panel (click this link for easy access) then go to your Game Service.

You will see if your game server is running or not. Make sure to stop your server for now by clicking on the "Stop" button.

2. Navigate to Configuration Files section, you will see a .ini file with the “Basic Server Settings” description. Click on the “Text Editor” button.

3. Scroll down until line 163 and you’ll see the “Password=” parameter. Type the password of your choosing after the “=”. Lastly, press Save & Exit.

4. Navigate back to your Game Panel, start your server and enjoy playing with added security!

 

SECOND METHOND: Via File Manager

1. Once again, make sure server is stopped by going to your Game Panel (You can click this link for easy access).

 

2. Go to the File Manager section, navigate to Zomboid/Server/ then open the .ini file inside that folder.

3. Scroll down until line 163 and you’ll see the “Password=” parameter. Type the password of your choosing after the “=”. Lastly, press Save & Exit.

4. Finally, navigate back to your Game Panel, start your server and enjoy playing with added security!
