The following guide will guide you through installing mods to your Minecraft server.

NOTE: It is recommended that you stop your server before making any modifications to it.

Installing mods with Forge

Minecraft Forge is a mod loader that makes installing mods to your server much easier. In this section of the guide we'll go over how to install Forge and then install mods using it.

Installing Forge

Head over to the "Mod Manager" in your control panel.

Navigate to the "Minecraft Forge" category.

Install "Minecraft Forge forge-1.8-11" by pressing "Install" next to it.

And that's it, you've now installed Forge for your Minecraft server. You're now ready to install mods using Forge.

Installing a mod using Forge

First you'll want to download the mods you wish to install. Make sure that they're compatible with your version of Minecraft. For example, if your server is 1.8.8, the mod must also be 1.8.8.
For this example we'll be installing the "TooManyItems" mod, which you can find over here: http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/mapping-and-modding/minecraft-mods/1272385-toomanyitems-the-inventory-editor-and-more-1-8

Next you'll want to head over to the "File Manager" on your server.

Create a "mods" folder if it doesn't already exist.

Navigate to the "mods" folder.

Upload your mod into the "mods" folder (NOTE: Alternatively you can upload the mod using FTP).

And that's it, start your server and your mod should now be available!
